Short Biography:
At the age of 7, Brandon Lawrence was first put in front of an Apple IIe computer, where he learned his first graphic design program.
It was a basic program where you commanded a pointer (called a turtle) to make shapes on the screen by typing in coordinates.
From then on Brandon was intrigued by computer graphics and finding his way around any computer’s operating system.
During his college days, Brandon decided that he wanted to advance his knowledge of computers into a career and picked a major of Computer Science.
After gaining two years of programming experience, he started feeling a need to be more creative using computers.
That's when he changed his major to focus on the artistic side of computers.
By declaring an art and technology major, Brandon was reintroduced to graphic design and the new software products that are available.
His major required him to learn: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Flash, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Dreamweaver and other motion graphic software.
After only a few weeks in each class, Brandon would excel faster then most students due to his background in computer science and became a tutor to his peers.
While he was still in college, Brandon started his career as a video music journalist in San Diego working at SD Music Matters.
There he filmed interviews and live footage of the local band scene and then edited the videos he shot to be viewed publicly on the web.
Eventually, he would head the video production branch of SD Music Matters.
It was very clear to him that the integration between websites and video was the future of personal computer usage, therefore, he did what ever it took to stay current with up to date video editing software, graphic design software and new website trends.
At this point in his life, Brandon had four career paths that he could see merging into one; Video Editing, Graphic Design, Motion Graphics and Website Coding.
It wasn’t long before Brandon realized that in order to branch out to a greater audience it would be best for him to move to Los Angeles.
He packed his bags for L.A. and was hired as a Post Production Assistant for Drama 3/4 Productions.
After proving his talents, Brandon was quickly promoted to Assistant Editor on VH1’s scripted comedy "I Hate my 30’s," and then Lead Editor on Reveille Productions and MSN’s internet show, "Mr. Robinson’s Driving School."
Working at Drama 3/4 allowed Brandon to hone in on his film production and graphic design talents at a professional level with competitive deadlines.
Brandon later parted ways with Drama 3/4 Production and started his own freelance company under the name of "Tough Guppy Productions."
While freelancing, Brandon was able to pursuit his own projects, while building websites, editing film/video and creating graphics.
He recently directed, produced and wrote The War of Game, a pilot to a webisode series, which won the audience choice award at the Gangrene Film Festival.
With Brandon at the wheel, Tough Guppy Productions has become a one stop shop for many clients to get all their multimedia needs. |
