On September 7th, 2007, The GANGRENE Film Festival returned for yet another hysterical romp, this time pirate style.

The show opened with a live performance from RUSTMONSTER, an all original pirate band. With a 7 piece ensemble,
including horns and auxiliary percussion, RUSTMONSTER barraged the audience with songs from their current studio album,
LAST VOYAGE OF THE BLACK BETTY, as well as selections from their upcoming release on the GANGRENE label.
In the quell, after RUSTMONSTER’S set, the stage lit up again with dancers from The Kicken’ It Dance Co. Dressed as 2 bands of rival swashbuckling pirates,

these break-dancing buccaneers spun and twirled to a hip-hop groove ala Black Beard, entertaining the crowd with their finely honed hip hop dance style and a good supply of GANGRENE beach balls to toss into the hands of eager spectators.
Nate Peck, veteran comic, returned to the stage to crack the audience up with his opening monolog. Each attending director was invited to the stage to introduce his film and for Q/A afterward.

The selection of showcased short films brought the audience to their knees in laughter. Films were better than ever in both content and quality.

Directors came from across the country--from New York to Los Angeles--to attend. Other films haled from British Columbia, Alabama, and, of course, Utah.
The stage value, better than ever, boasted a large scale pirate ship, complete with sails, flag, a working canon (that shot candy),

and a band of pirates led by Captain Scurvy, who manned the poop-deck, daunting, fearless, and hilarious.

Comcast, official sponsor of The GANGRENE Film Festival: Pieces of 8, taped the entire event to be televised along the Wasatch Front on demand during the fall of 2007.
The entire show left the audience smiling and wondering what GANGRENE Productions would think of next. Stay posted to find out.
